FERRARI LE MANS AND FORMULA 1 SUCCESSES
Ferrari is one of the world's most recognizable brands in motorsport, having achieved great success in both the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Formula One World Championship. The history of these successes is a reflection of Ferrari's superior engineering, innovative design and passionate competitive spirit.
Le Mans 24 Hours
The Le Mans 24 Hours is one of the most demanding and prestigious endurance races in the world. Ferrari has won the race over the years.
• 1949: Ferrari's first Le Mans victory came when Luigi Chinetti and Peter Mitchell-Thomson won the Ferrari 166MM.
• 1954-1958: Ferrari won four consecutive Le Mans races during this period. In 1954, Maurice Trintignant and José Froilán González won the 375 Plus.
• 1960-1965: Ferrari's brightest period at Le Mans was the period when it won six consecutive years. During this period, legendary models such as the Ferrari 250 TR, 250 GTO, 330 TRI/LM and 250 LM competed. In 1965, Ferrari ended this period with a victory for Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory with the 250 LM.
These victories made Ferrari one of the most successful brands at Le Mans. However, Ford's victories with the GT40 after the mid-1960s ended Ferrari's dominance at Le Mans.
Formula 1 Successes
Ferrari is one of the most established and successful brands in motorsport, being the only team to have competed continuously since the Formula 1 World Championship began in 1950.
• 1950: Alberto Ascari and Luigi Villoresi score the team's first points in Ferrari's first season.
• 1951: José Froilán González wins Ferrari's first Grand Prix victory (British GP).
• 1952-1953: Alberto Ascari wins Ferrari's first major Formula One victory by winning two consecutive Drivers' Championships.
